Ritchie nasceu na Inglaterra e, filho de militar, morou em vrios lugares do mundo. At que, em 1972, conheceu em Londres um grupo de msicos brasileiros, entre eles o baixista e produtor musical Liminha, que o convenceram a vir para o pas. Naquela dcada, formou com Lobo, Lulu Santos, Luiz Simas e Fernando Gama a banda Vmana, que chegou a gravar um compacto para depois se desfazer e lanar seus integrantes em vitoriosas carreiras-solo. “Menina Veneno” chegou s rdios brasileiras em 14 de fevereiro de 83. A faixa, produzida por Liminha, que tambm toca o baixo ea guitarra, se transformou num extraordinrio sucesso, apresentando ao pop-rock nacional uma nova esttica e deflagrando a improvvel popularidade deste talentoso gringo. Lanada a princpio em compacto simples, “Menina Veneno” puxou o sucesso comercial de “Vo de Corao”, primeiro disco solo do cantor, que vendeu mais de um milho de cpias naquele ano a bordo tambm de outros hits como “A Vida Tem Dessas Coisas”, “Pelo Interfone” e “Casanova”. J estouradssimo, ele compareceu ao “Globo de Ouro” em abril de 83 para cantar este clssico, ainda irresistvel, mais de 25 anos depois. Em 83, o “Globo de Ouro” era dirigido por Mrcio Antonucci.
